Volunteer Jobs
Table Steward
The Table Steward plays a vital and dynamic role in ensuring that all paperwork is ready for the Judges as they are ready for the next dog. They efficiently gather the necessary documents from the Trial Secretaries before each level begins, ensuring everything is in order for the Judges to score the dogs seamlessly. Additionally, the Table Steward ensures that completed paperwork is promptly given to the Runner for delivery back to the Trial Secretary.
Timer
The Timer is essential for accurately recording each team's performance. They ensure clock starts and stops precisely when the team begins and ends their work, allowing the judge note the official time on the score sheets. This accuracy of the recorded time is crucial for accurately capturing team performance during the competition.
Gate Keeper
The Gate Keeper plays a vital role in managing the entry of competitors into the search area. They are responsible for staging each competitor in the designated area, ensuring a smooth transition into their search as soon as the Judge signals readiness. This position is essential for maintaining an efficient and orderly progression through our running order.
Runner
The Runner is dedicated to one primary task: running. Their role involves transporting essential paperwork from the judge to the trial secretary for efficient processing. By ensuring the trial secretary receives these documents promptly, we facilitate timely processing and confirmation of new titles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have never done any of the jobs above before. Can I still volunteer to help?
A: Absolutely! We would still love your help! We'd love to know your experience at dog trials (if you have volunteered at other types of trials and what your background is in scent detection).

Q: Can I volunteer and compete at the same time?
A: You are encouraged to attend our event as both a competitor and volunteer. We will require that you are not competing during the part of the day you are volunteering. Ie. if you want to volunteer in the morning on Saturday, you will not be eligible to compete in either of the Advanced, Excellent, or Elite happening during that time slot.

Q: I am not competing at your trial but want to volunteer, is that ok?
A: ABSOLUTELY! You gem of a person! Please indicate on your form that you are not competing. We will be in touch on compensation for you.
